My Friend
In the early morning
Just about at dawn
I set forth on a mission
To find where I belong
I walk in to the forest
Where I see a wall of green
Knowing it will protect me
And accept me sight unseen
I walk along the ocean
So mighty and so strong
I listen its whispers
As it sings its luring song
I wander to the mountains
Full of grace and majesty
Seeing the rugged beauty
As it offers itself to me
I go on to the desert
To see if I find home
The cactus offers her arms to me
To say I am not alone
Still I am not happy
Though wonders I do see
I look at all that was offered
But it was not for me
I sat and thought for hours
Of what I was searching for
Knowing it isn't a location at all
But of something I need more
Looking deep within my heart
I ponder for a while
Then it gently comes to me
As I see you smile
I look upon your shinning face
And my heart does melt
Knowing that you care for me
Is exactly what I felt
I no longer need to wander
Down the path way in my life
I have found you my friend
To hold on through the strife
